Información del Entorno en Inglés
¿Qué es?
Conjunto de expresiones en inglés para describir el lugar donde estamos, ubicar objetos y personas, e informar sobre la ciudad, el barrio, la escuela o la casa. Su objetivo comunicativo es orientar e informar: decir qué hay, dónde está y cómo llegar.
Estructura básica: Subject + Verb + Place + Complement
- Ejemplo: My school is next to the park.
1. Vocabulario esencial
Lugares de la ciudad y la comunidad
- neighborhood (barrio): I live in a quiet neighborhood.
- street / avenue (calle / avenida): My house is on Main Street.
- park (parque): There is a park near my house.
- school / library (escuela / biblioteca): The library is behind the school.
- hospital / pharmacy (hospital / farmacia): The pharmacy is across from the hospital.
- supermarket / market (supermercado / mercado): The supermarket is on the corner.
- bus station (estación de bus): The bus station is far from here.
Casa y aula
- Casa: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom.
- Elementos físicos: door, window, wall, floor, roof.
- Aula: board, desk, chair, map.
2. There is / There are
Informan qué existe en el entorno:
- There is + singular: There is a bank on this street.
- There are + plural: There are two banks on this street.
- Negación: There is no park here. / There are no...
- Pregunta: Is there a library near here? / Are there...?
⚠️ No confundir con It is: There is presenta existencia; It is describe características (It is a big city.).
3. Preposiciones de lugar

4. Cómo dar direcciones
- Punto de partida: You are at the school. / Start from the main square.
- Movimiento:
- Go straight (sigue derecho)
- Turn left / Turn right (gira a la izquierda / derecha)
- Go along / Go past (sigue por / pasa de largo)
- Cross (cruza)
- Punto de llegada: The library is on your left. / It is next to the supermarket.
Diálogo modelo:
- A: Excuse me, is there a hospital near here?
- B: Yes, there is. Go straight and turn right. It is across from the park.
5. Errores frecuentes a evitar
- ❌ Doble sujeto:
My city is it has many parks → ✅ My city has many parks.
- ❌ Omitir el verbo to be:
The school next to the park → ✅ The school is next to the park.
- ❌ Confundir there is (existencia) con it is (descripción).
